Jade Y. Ramos joins Redwood Public Law with unique insight and deep experience in the world of Sports & Entertainment, where she leads the firm's Sports & Entertainment practice. Her experience with complex S&E transactions compliments Redwood’s public law expertise in creating innovative pathways for large-scale projects that require sophisticated public-private collaborations. Drawing from her experience as a professional and Division I basketball player, she brings an athlete's competitive drive and strategic mindset to her legal practice, serving clients across the sports and creative industries.
Jade has established herself as a leading voice in Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) law, co-designing and co-instructing the inaugural NIL legal clinic at the UC Berkeley School of Law. Her NIL practice includes representing collegiate athletes, advising NIL startups on compliance and business strategy, and consulting with athletic departments on policy development and implementation.
A highlight of her practice includes leading the legal team advising an Oakland-based development group in their historic pursuit to acquire the Oakland Coliseum Complex and bring back professional sports to Oakland. Her pioneering legal work on this project, which Redwood has since continued to advance, exemplifies her strategic legal mind and commitment to initiatives that create lasting impact in communities through sports and entertainment. With her keen ability to navigate intricate stakeholder relationships within complex transactions, Jade will be an invaluable asset in expanding the firm's strategic counsel for agencies seeking innovative solutions to urban development challenges.
Based in Oakland's vibrant arts district, Jade is also deeply committed to elevating the work of artists and content creators who challenge conventional limits and illuminate infinite possibility. She has represented an array of creative talents, from Grammy-award winning musicians to established filmmakers to emerging artists, helping them identify, execute, and protect their strategic vision and values through the law. Her client work includes advising, drafting, and negotiating licensing, sponsorship, endorsement, and other digital media/influencer agreements; above and below the line production-related transactions; and music publishing and recording agreements, with global brands such as Pixar, NBA, WNBA, EA Sports, VTech Electronics, Hilton, Benefit Cosmetics, EMPIRE music, and more.
Before joining Redwood, Jade managed a successful civil justice practice advocating for marginalized communities, securing 6 and 7-figure settlements in civil rights and personal injury cases. This experience reinforced her dedication to expanding access to legal services and empowering clients to be meaningful participants in their legal matters.
Jade remains active in the Oakland community, where she can be found playing pick-up basketball, engaging with local artists, and co-conspiring on community-building initiatives - when she's not busy being a mom, listening to hip-hop culture, self-help, sports, and faith-based podcasts.
